lyrics

I went back today to see
The streets I walked at 17.
The sidewalk cracks remembered me,
But welcomed me reluctantly.
The local parks where I used to go
Have since become someone else’s home.
Hold on tight to places you know
Cuz generations come and go.
And it’s like I’ve lost a part of me.
The years have left me wondering
If peace is something I’ll ever know.
I just want to be at home.
I went back today to see
The house I lived in ‘til 18.
I mean, yeah, I’d come back every spring,
But then autumn would get the best of me.
I left and walked up the bridge at 10,
Remembered the thoughts that went through my head,
I stared up at the evening sky,
Then smiled and walked down the other side.
I can still remember where the floor creaks there,
And the stains on the carpet we threw out that year.
After The Eight, this place felt fine again.
And I can still remember how the main street rolled,
And the school they tore down not far from home.
The memories were laid to rest that day.
Lost inside
Where am I?
Have I been left behind?
